James to the Rescue!

James has been OBSESSED with firemen lately. He watches a show on Netflix called "Fireman Sam" and he tells me all the time about when he grows up and is a fireman he's going to "...blah, blah, blah!" (I don't generally hear "...blah, blah, blah!" but it's normally something about me picking him up from the fire station and making him a sandwich for lunch, etc., etc.)

We put "Visit the fire station!" on our Summer Goals list and I wondered how I'd be able to pull it off. Can you just show up at the fire station and ask for a tour? WELL...Imagine his delight when he got not one, but TWO fire station tours last week! He. was. thrilled.

Fire station visit number one was compliments of Grandmama. While we were in town Grandmama heard about a water and Gatorade drive that the local fire station was doing. Bring a case of water or Gatorade and children would get a tour. PERFECT! I dropped James off with her and off they went. James even went wearing John's old fireman helmet he had from a costume. He had a ball! Grandmama said he asked lots and lots {and lots and lots} of questions and enjoyed seeing everything.

Oddly enough, the day that James had the fire station tour with Grandmama, I got a text from Mrs. Lauren asking if James wanted to tour the station at home where Mr. CT3 is a volunteer fire fighter. Ummm, absolutely! Ha! Dream come true for my future hero! On Saturday morning we met them bright and early (for Mrs. Lauren - it was 10:30!) and toured ANOTHER fire station! It was really neat to see the different trucks, the jaws of life, hear the siren, and try on the gear! We even got to see where the firemen hang out and sleep!

** Mr. CT3 did the sirens and we told the kids to cover their ears. We need to work on body parts with Will, I guess. He was close, though! **

Even better, we got to have lunch with our buddies after! James and Anne Margaret are such sweet friends and play so well together. James is convinced he's going to marry her when he grows up. Her daddy may have other ideas. Ha! We had a great time hanging out. Hope we get to see them again soon!

Fischer was really into Fireman Sam for a while. All he wanted was a Fireman Sam birthday party... That's hard when it's a British cartoon! I literally paid $8 for 6 Fireman Sam cups! Craziness!
