Happy Day!

*** I meant to post this last night and then got busy and didn't get to it. I'm dating it the 20th, though, so that when I print our books it will print on his birthday! ***

Happy Day, indeed! James doesn't say "birthday" so we just get "Happy Day!" from him.

When James woke up yesterday and crawled in bed with me, I asked him whose birthday it was. "Me!" he said. I sang "Happy Birthday" to him and we snuggled. Then, later when I asked whose birthday it was, he told me it was Poppy's birthday. He kept that up most of the day. Already fearing aging? Ha!

He had preschool yesterday so I dropped him off and ran to the bakery to pick up cookies for his class. I went back home, picked up my camera, and left again to pick up Eddie. We had to be back to school by 10:15.

He was clearly a little shocked that we were there. :) We stayed 10 or 15 minutes and then let them get on with their day.

After school, lunch, and a nap, James and I worked on birthday party stuff. He found a clown nose from last year. He was in the den and I was washing dishes and I heard him giggling. He walked in and had put this on all by himself and just thought it was the funniest thing!

When Daddy got home from work we had dinner at the Mexican restaurant down the street. James learned how delicious cheese dip is for the first time! He's never tried it before!

Then it was time for presents! Eddie and I gave him his "real" gifts several weeks ago: new boots, a table and chairs for his room, and the big boy room makeover/move. I knew he wouldn't get that, though, so I went to Target and wrapped up some cheapy things. It was a big hit!

He got THREE cards in the mail yesterday and was THRILLED. He loves mail as much as his mama!

This camera has been a HUGE hit so far. He wanted to sleep with it but I made him put it on his bookshelf instead.

New Color Wonder books. If you have small children, you need to find these! The markers ONLY write on Color Wonder paper. John wouldn't be thrilled he couldn't tattoo himself, but my parents would have appreciated it!

I'm left wondering how in the world two years have passed. HOW?!? I KNOW that just yesterday I was sitting in the hospital with this tiny thing:

And surely it hasn't been long since his FIRST birthday!

STOP growing up!

We weighed and measured James and he's 28 pounds, 34 inches. He was 8 pounds, 2 ounces and 21 inches when he was born. I looked for last year's stats and couldn't find them. If I can dig them up, I'll post! (At 11 months he was 21 pounds, 4 ounces and 29 inches. I can't imagine he grew that much in a month.)

He is truly a big boy and and we love him SO much!
