James is TEN months old! Holy cow!!!

At ten months, James…
• Weighs 20 pounds, 8 ounces.

• Is 29 inches.

(Both are very rough estimates...he doesn't exactly cooperate!)

• We’re sort of re-working our schedule these days. He still usually wakes up between 5 and 6:30 to be fed. The earlier it is, the easier he goes back to sleep. I’ve been putting him back in his crib lately and he sleeps for a lot longer. He still eats yogurt around 9 and nurses around 10 and then takes a nap. Sometimes our timing is a little off. He usually eats babyfood at 1 or 1:30, nurses at 2 or 2:30 and then takes another nap. He eats babyfood again around 5 or 6, takes a bath around 7 or 7:30 (this week it’s been after Wheel of Fortune…how OLD do we sound?!?!), nurses around 7:45 and goes to bed at 8.

• He’s still wearing a size 3 diaper. After all of that super-growing he did in the first few months I assumed he was just a big kid. I’ve bought 12-18 month clothes for the fall so he’d better grow SOME in the next few weeks!

• He still sleeps with his pacifier and wubbie. He occasionally wakes up and needs us to find his paci. I’ve been leaving both items in his crib when he gets up so that he only gets them when he’s sleeping.

• He’s been grumpy lately, especially if he’s not being paid the attention he thinks he needs. He’s also learned to scream and the combination is not one I enjoy. Screaming from 5:30 until bedtime is not fun for anyone. If we’re out and about he’s a very happy boy. He likes to be outside and he likes to be on the go.

• He has seven teeth – four on top and three on the bottom.

• Still enjoys a bath. Still tries to stand up in the bathtub.

• More and more babbling these days. He sounds like he’s trying to actually talk to us. We’ve gotten him to say “Papa,” “Mama,” “Da-da,” “more” (muh), and “bye-bye.” He said something that sounded like hungry when I asked if he was hungry yesterday.

• Still crawling and cruising. I thought he might be an early walker (apparently Eddie walked at 9 months!!!) but I think he’ll be right on time now. I bet by mid-September he’s trying.

• He’s decided to be weird about eating lately. He LOVES yogurt in the morning and he LOVES Cheerios. He also LOVES anything we’re eating, even if he doesn’t know what it is. He had spaghetti with Eddie (I asked him yesterday if anyone ever called him Eddie spaghetti…he wasn’t amused) this week and LOVED it. He also loves anything sweet. For a while he was a vegetable man but he’s changed his ways and wants nothing to do with those now. I just never know these days what he’s going to eat. It’s a challenge!

• As usual, he’s lots of fun! We love him so much!
