The Door...

I am not a fan of answering the door when Eddie is not at home. For one thing, it's just not safe. I only know a handful of people in our area and all of those people have full-time jobs during the day. Not many people that I know are just going to stop by in the middle of the day to visit me. For another thing, I may or may not have showered and dressed by mid-afternoon. Sometimes I hustle to shower before Eddie gets home. Sometimes I shower after he gets home. Sometimes, on very rare occassions, I am showered before 10 am. But then I wouldn't even be home if someone came by because what other reason would I have to be up, showered, and ready? Okay, this is just getting embarrassing.

Friday afternoon was absolutely fantastic. I put James in the stroller at 2:45 and we walked a mile. Then we got in the car and took a road trip to Sonic (thanks a lot, Anna...I've been twice this week). Once we got home and he'd been fed, I hopped in the shower. I got out, dried my hair and got dressed and then walked into our office. Our office, for those of you who haven't been to our house, is right next to our front door. I'd pulled James' Jumperoo right up to the doorway so that he could jump and still see me and I could watch him.

Someone knocked on the door.

I took a peek and saw someone standing there but didn't know who they were. I backed up. I was stuck. The woman could totally see James bouncing in his Jumperoo, but I didn't know her and didn't want to answer the door.

I peeked out the blinds a few minutes later and her car was still in the driveway.

I started to panic a little, I won't lie. For one, who the heck was it? For another thing, would she call the police and tell them there was a baby in our house without a guardian? Ah!

Finally and at last she left.

I have no clue who the person was. Eddie didn't tell me to expect anyone. No one called to let me know they were coming by. Futhermore, I didn't recognize what I could see of the person.

Am I a crazy lady? Do you think it's ridiculous that I don't answer the door when I'm home alone?

First of all, there is no shame in not bathing. For instance, it is now almost 5 on Saturday and I have yet to bathe.

Second, I totally forgot about my love of Sonic because I've been so busy this week but now that you reminded me I'll have to go today!

Third, I think we are both scaredy cats because I hate strangers and probably would be hesitant about answering the door.

That is pretty funny that she probably saw your baby home alone though! haha

I never answer the door! Sometimes my kids are making noise inside and I know the person can hear, but too bad. It's just not safe. Even stanger is that her car was in your driveway. Even though our neighborhood has posted "no solisiting" signs people will still walk around sometimes, but never park in the driveway.
