In a HUGE effort to try to play catch-up here at the end of the summer, I am blogging on a Saturday! Unfortunately, it's not the fun full-of-pictures-of-my-kids post most of you are here for. It's time for What We're Reading!
I am so, so, so far behind on my reading goal for the year. I have read a measly 20 books out of my goal of 75. That puts me WAY behind. I have no doubt that I won't catch up. I usually read 2-3 books a month so that would put me at 15 more books for the year at my best. We will see how it turns out.
This month I read ONE book. Our book club selection for July. We read The Husband's Secret by Lianne Moriarity. I have seen this woman's name EVERYWHERE recently, so I was happy that this one landed on our book club list. I really, really enjoyed it! The book is about three women - Tess, Cecelia, and Rachel. Tess's husband and cousin have begun an affair and she leaves and moves to her mother's house in Melbourne, Australia (where Rachel and Cecelia live). Meanwhile, Rachel is a widow and is still mourning her daughter who was murdered as a teen years before. Her son and his wife are moving and taking their only child to New York. Cecilia is the picture perfect woman. She has a booming Tupperware business, her husband is wonderful, and her three girls are growing up. She is a hostess extraordinary and one of those people you look at and wonder how she gets it all done. The three women's stories intertwine in very interesting ways. I will say that while I enjoyed it, my sister did not and one girl in my book club did not. It's not a happy-go-lucky book. I just enjoyed the mystery of it all.
And that is IT. The boys and I didn't even finish a book! Hoping to read more and MORE in the coming weeks. HAHAHAHAHA. One can dream, right?

I didn't HATE it... I just didn't love it. :) I'm not opposed to trying another one of her books, though. Especially since everybody seems to just rave over them!
