'Tis the season for rush, rush, rushing around!
On Friday after lunch we left and headed to Lake Oconee to spend the night with Papa and YaYa and celebrate Christmas with various aunts, uncles, and cousins on Saturday. We arrived late-afternoon and the boys helped YaYa decorate a felt tree she'd made for the lakehouse den. After pizza for dinner and a quick bath our boys were ready for a little lounging around so we watched Santa's Surprise. Santa's Surprise is the oldest little cartoon that Dad and Laura had at their house when we were little and John ADORED. I laughed and laughed when I found it on DVD as an adult and realized it was only about 12 minutes. HA! We were in bed SUPER early for spending the night off - usually the boys are up LATE when we're out.
{Milkshake stop in Gray. This boy lives. to. eat.}
Saturday morning we got up and eagerly anticipated the arrival of the rest of the family. I didn't take the FIRST picture. And I counted on Susana to take some of her with my babies but she failed (*ahem*). We had lots of fun visiting and eating {and eating and eating!} with everyone before we had to hit the road at 2pm.
Our plan was to head home and get there in time to do the live Nativity at the church just down the street from our house. James was SO excited to do it. And then it rained and rained and rained...and they should have made it into a live Noah's Ark instead of Nativity because it rained so much that it was canceled. So disappointing. We came home and got jammies on and watched The Grinch instead. It might have been for the best...the boys were EXHAUSTED.
Sunday morning we went to church and Sunday School. Our little Sunday School class is PRECIOUS. We have a TON of little boys and about 3 little girls {but the girls are never there at the same time...}. We've learned that they THOROUGHLY enjoy acting out our lesson. Last week we turned them into Innkeepers, Mary, and Joseph. Mary and Joseph walked up to each Innkeeper and asked if he/she had room. They loved it so much that they wanted to do it four or five times in different parts. So yesterday I decided they'd be angels and shepherds (we're working through the story a little bit at a time). Here they are, "watching their flocks by night."
Aren't they cutie pies?
{I am boohooing over the fact that Will is wearing this outfit. James wore this when I was big pregnant with Will. WHERE HAS THE TIME GONE?! See below.}
{Christmas 2011. Boooohooooo!}
As soon as we got home from church James decided he was sick. And then he totally started running a fever. That kid can call a fever like no one I've ever seen. {He does have lots of "false alarms," though, so maybe he's not all that accurate...} We debated changing our afternoon plans, but decided to carry on. We needed to get Christmas shopping finished and James still wanted to go to Grandmama's for the day. SO. On we went! We had a whirlwind shopping trip - Target! Kohl's! Old Navy! Belk! Hibbitt! Somewhere else that I can't remember! - and we were back in about four hours.
Last night I had the MOST fun. When I got partners together for my book swap I arranged a local friend mentioned that she wanted to play along. {I'll recap that whole thing soon...it was fun!} Jen and I got together last night for dinner at Olive Garden and to swap books. In a hilarious twist, we wound up buying each other the same book! Great minds, huh? We've also decided we're going to start a book club and meet. {Seriously. If you're a local friend and want to join us for a totally relaxed and casual book club, let me know!}
My sweet boy who ran a fever most of the day yesterday stayed home from school this morning. He was perky and playing and didn't have a fever today so we're hoping he can go back tomorrow. Often when he gets sick he's down for the count for a bit so I have my fingers crossed for him - he doesn't want to miss his party on Thursday!
Hope y'all have a great week!

So - I'm like eight and three quarters years behind on blogs - but I'm finally catching up! That being said - I had so much fun on our night out (and even more fun with Mr. Mistletoe)! Let's do it again SOON!
