James at 15 Months...

* We just got back from the doctor's office for James' 15 month checkup! James is 24 pounds, 9.5 ounces (just over fiftieth percentile) and 31 inches (fiftieth percentile)!

* He's gotten SO picky about food. He will try things and like them sometimes and the next time we attempt to get him to eat the same foods he acts like they're poisonous!

* He can say baby, uh oh, diaper, hey, bye, mama, daddy (DD!), Cacky (what mama goes by but sounds like KiKi), Papa (Bapa), Poppy, and LaLa (Laura but it sounds like YaYa), bobby (bottle), Mickey (tee-tee!), belly button (be-baby), kitty, and bath. He tries to say everything that we say but it usually comes out sounding a lot like "baby!" He's trying to say more and more words!

* He knows what a dog says and what a fish says.

* If he wants to see something he points to the object and himself and says "Me!"

* He can wave, clap, point to his head, nose, ears, eyes, toes, and mouth, and "fist pump."

* He still LOVES to play in the bathtub.

* He is walking like a champ! He never really went back to crawling after he started walking. He just acted like he'd been walking the whole time!

* He signs "More," "Eat," "All done," and "Milk."

* He loves to throw things on the floor and yell "Uh oh!"

* He has started throwing tantrums. I know we're probably entering some fun but challeging months. He does the full-on head thrown back, arched back, screaming fits lately when he doesn't get his way.

* Last month I said he hated riding in the car. I found a toy cellphone in the clearance section at Target one day and it's his "car toy" now. We don't take it out of the car (I've taken it to the store and to a restaurant but it doesn't come inside for every-day play!) and he's OBSESSED when he gets in his seat. I haven't heard much crying since I purchased that magical toy!

* He calls the phone "Bye bye!"

* I'm going to regret saying this, but he's still slepeing great! He usually goes to bed between 8:30 and 9 and gets up between 8:30 and 9. I love this so much. He's still taking two naps a day most days.

* I spoke with the doctor this morning about bottles and purees. I stopped nursing and we went to cow's milk in a bottle because it was an easy switch. James has still been taking a bottle first thing and a bottle at night. Well...we're about to have to do away with that. YIKES. The "bobby" is about to be no more! We'll see how it goes! (When I woke him up yesterday morning he sat up, looked at me, and said, "A bobby?" Lord have mercy...we may be in for a tough time!) He said the purees are FINE. James isn't crazy about a ton of table foods (he's apparently part Italian, though!) so I'm going to stick with the baby food to get something other than goldfish and animal crackers into his body!

* He's more fun and more work lately! I can't turn my head for a SECOND. But he's happy (almost always) and loves to play, tickle, and read. We're enjoying all of it!

* I mentioned this to a blog friend on her post tonight about pitching fits. Eddie and I have had a hard time not laughing when James throws himself on the floor. My FAVORITE Andy Griffith episode is "Opie and the Spoiled Child." Watch and try not to laugh! {To save yourself some time you can skip to around 4:30.}

hahaha...love that james can "fist pump" ;)
and the video....thanks for sending it - we watched it this morning and DIED! it is hilarious and pretty much exactly what we see on a daily basis. i especially love how opie goes in and out of "tantrum" mode - libbi will be pitching the mother of all fits and then suddenly get distracted and it's over in the blink of an eye.
also...i can't believe james is 15 months - wow!!

Oh yeah, we love Opie. Kate still fusses at us for laughing at her pitching a fit.

I have to know...what does a fish say? James is smarter than me already!
