August Musings.

 Well hey, y'all.

We've been back in school for two weeks already and I'm finally just now sitting down to get some words down on paper. I miss this space so much, but life is just truly FLYING BY. Working and mom-ing and living are just making things go incredibly fast and this spot for catching up and filling in has taken a back burner. I don't want to miss the memories, but I feel like I don't have time to do it!

I've been working on a summer recap post for about a month and a half (SERIOUSLY.) and might figure out how to get that posted soon. It was the fastest and busiest summer OF ALL TIME. We have today off for a teacher work day and it has been a breath of fresh air, even though I complained for weeks about how ridiculous it was to interrupt the routine two weeks into school. The boys started back on JULY TWENTY-NINTH this year and my preschool went back on August 10th.

Ok, enough of the stream of consciousness word vomit.

The boys are in 5th and 7th grades this year and I also can't believe we've gotten to that point in life. James is starting to look and sound like an adult instead of a little boy and my brain can't compute that. It's nuts. So far, school has been good. Will seems to really enjoy his teacher this year. He doesn't love school and has zero confidence that he's good at it, but he has talked a lot more about positive things than negative so that's good. He loves his gifted teacher a lot and once James didn't have her anymore and he didn't hear the complaints about her from his brother, he really settled into his own groove with her. We finally conceded and let James take weight lifting this year and he has enjoyed that. He thinks he's going to swim and play golf again. I've encouraged some dry land exercise, but he thinks he's just going to get into the pool cold turkey and out of shape. Woof. It would not be my thing.

I thought I'd share these collages I put together of the boys' first days of school over the years. We've had a long run with that red frame. Maybe we can make it until 12th grade for both!

Y'all have a great week!
