Themed Books - Halloween!

It's no secret that I am a BIG reader. Eddie is, too, when he has time. The two of us have umpteen dozen books (that's an official count) and James has his fair share as well.

I saw this CUTE project idea on another website recently so I decided that I, too, wanted to make it. We have several different "themes" of books - Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's Day, etc. - mixed in with our regular books. But I think that pulling those books out JUST during their season would make it even more fun because it would be like getting brand new books! So I'm trying it this year with Halloween and Christmas. As our library expands, I may expand the seasons, too.

I bought a cheap plastic tub from Target's Halloween section the other day and then printed "Trick or Treat," a spider, and a web off on my Silhouette. (I haven't used this thing nearly as much as I should have! I've been busy with it this week! The last thing I did was to just double knot Halloween-themed ribbon on the handles. And viola!

We only have five Halloween books currently. I'm in no hurry to buy a ton because I figure over the years that we'll fill it up. Currently, we have a Curious George Halloween book (not typical George...this is filled with poems about Fall and Halloween), a Biscuit Halloween book, The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything, Five Little Pumpkins, and a Bearenstain Bears book.

I'm excited about doing a Christmas one, too. Maybe in the future if we add more Easter, Thanksgiving, 4th of July, etc. books in I'll do those, too! I think it'll be fun to pull these out with the decorations each year!

Cute bucket!! I do this for Gracie with all my teacher books! She loves it because it's like getting new books each month or holiday...just depending on the season!
