James at 20 months!

Height/Weight:
??? - I'm guessing right around 32 inches (I didn't check and he's napping), 27.6 pounds

Naps:
I keep trying to switch him to a 2pm-only naptime, but most days he desperately needs a nap by 10 or 11. I've started letting him nap but waking him up when Eddie gets home so that he doesn't sleep too long. I really, really like the afternoon nap a lot better. I get a lot more done! (Last month he was on a 6:45 wake up kick...he's pushed it back about an hour...for now.)

Daily Schedule:
Wake up between 7:30-8:30. Breakfast from whenever he stops wailing after he gets up (we are NOT morning people around here) until he decides he's finished. He eats sooooo slowly. I've been assured this will make him healthier as an adult. For now, I actually let him watch TV and eat for as long as he's content in his chair. Usually he eats from about 9-10. He plays for a little while, either in "baby jail" or following behind me. Sometimes he naps, sometimes he doesn't. Eddie comes home around 12:30 and we all eat lunch together. When he leaves to go back to work we either immediately take a nap or we play a little while and then take a nap. He's almost always in his bed by 2. He'll nap anywhere from 1-3 hours and then he's up again asking for fish, milk, and Ra-Ra. (Arthur) Since Ra-Ra doesn't come on until 5 he's usually kept occupied by some other show during his snack. But he never fails to ask for Ra-Ra. During his snack I get my loud chores done. I don't do anything that might wake him up during naptime because he's such a grump if that happens. He plays/I do chores until Eddie comes home around 6. He and Eddie play together until supper is ready. We eat dinner together and then the boys go to get James' bath. He loves his daddy to give him a bath! He points to the tub and says, "Daddy!" to me anytime we're in the bathroom. After bathtime we play, drink milk, read books, spend time together until about 9pm. He has a late bedtime but since we don't have to get up super early we're okay with it!

Favorite Foods:
Chicken nuggets, Buddy Fruits, cheese, waffles, goldfish, Italian food, baby food in general, applesauce, milk, cookies, water, macaroni and cheese. (Healthy, huh?)

Favorite Toys:
Hats, socks, and slippers! Good gracious! He's trying to learn to put things on his feet by himself but I'm asked several times a day for help. I got him a Mr. Potato Head last night while we were out thinking it might be fun and good for hand-eye-coordination and he absolutely LOVES it. He has only put it down to eat and sleep. I'm sure the new will wear off at some point, but for now Mr. Potato Head is a hit! (He calls him what sounds like Ater.)

Words:
I cannot keep up with the words anymore. He is trying to say EVERYTHING. We've been working on letters and colors recently and he's trying so hard. We definitely are seeing a hard time saying the "R" sound just like John. James took a shower for the first time on Saturday and he kept saying he wanted a "wow-a." :) He really, really sounds like he speaks some foreign language, though. He'll say "Nah nuh ho noon noanan?" and look at me like, "Right? Don't you agree?" Ha! Silly boy!

I've said it before, but this is a tough age for both of us. I love being around him and spending time with him and vice versa, but he gets so aggravated so easily when things don't go just right. Yesterday Eddie had a lunch meeting and Methodist Men at supper so I was alone until after 8 pm. (I know that lots of people do this all the time - I'm not complaining, it just makes for a long day.) James was fantastic all day except when my high heels (ha!) wouldn't go on just right (Anna, his shoes were being MEAN to him!) and when we were in the drive-thru at Chick-fil-A and he KNEW there was chicka chicka but couldn't get to it. He was crying, "Chicka! Chicka chicka! Oh, chicka!" He is soaking up everything like a little sponge and it's SO much fun to see him learning new things!
