Looking Back At 2010...

I've seen this on a few other blogs this week so I decided to participate. Can you believe it's almost 2011???

1. What did you do in 2010 that you had never done before?

* Raised a child through his first year!
* Started an at-home business.
* Visited a precious baby in the NNICU in Macon. THAT was incredible. I'll never forget how teeny he was!
* One thing that happened for the first time at our house was snow in February. We got a little more this month (we've seen snow three separate occassions in December!) but nothing like that first snow!

* We took James to the beach for the first time!

* I grew my own tomatoes, basil, and rosemary!

* Celebrated my first REAL Mother's Day.

2. Did anyone close to you give birth?

* LOTS of people had babies this year! Hope I don't forget anyone! In March, Heather had Reed at 29 weeks. In May, Lori had John Michael. In July, Mary Beth had Sarah Beth and Cassie had Thompson.

3. Did anyone close to you die?

Eddie's dog, Mosby, had to be put to sleep in August because he lost the use of his back legs. His parents' cat, Skunk, died earlier in the summer so it was a tough year for the animals in our family.

4. What date from 2010 will remain etched in your memory and why?

Nothing BIG really happened to us this year. The date that keeps coming back to me is October 23rd because we had James' first birthday party.

5. What was your biggest achievement this year?

Making it through the first year with The Boy. We had LOTS of ups and downs along the way, but we made it and lived to tell the tale! And probably also breastfeeding for thirteen months. That was a huge deal for me!

6. What was the best thing you bought?

* Baby Jail! Hahaha! We don't have good doorways for baby gates in our house so the only way to keep James out of trouble was to buy "baby jail." We've LOVED it. (Some of us more than others! ha!)
7. Where did most of your money go?

* James!

8. What song will always remind you of 2010?

Would it be terrible to say the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Hot Dog song? Because that's what I'm going to go with. Between that and all of the musical toys, that's about all I sing!

9. What do you wish you'd done more of?

* Getting OUT OF THE HOUSE. We stay home way too much. It's easy to stay in jammies all day and I don't spend money when I'm home. But we need to get out with friends more often!

10. What do you wish you'd done less of?

* Staying home...see above!

11. What was your favorite TV program?

We recently discovered "The Big Bang Theory" and we're hooked. It is clever and hilarious. Jim Parsons is FANTASTIC.

12. What's the best book you read this year?

* I finished The Help in January. That was fantastic.
* I also loved Same Kind of Different As Me.
* The Secret Life of CeeCee Wilkes was a page turner!
* Lineage of Grace was long, but totally worth it!
* Redeeming Love was incredible!
* I loved Like Dandelion Dust!
* The Glass Castle was interesting and I really enjoyed it!
* I just finished Water for Elephants and loved it, too!

Obviously, I've read a LOT this year. (This isn't even half of the books I've read!)

13. What was your favorite movie this past year?

Movie? What's that? We saw a few movies in the theater but they weren't my favorites. I did rent "The Princess and the Frog" and thought it was SO cute!

14. What did you do on your birthday? How old were you?

Mom and Sonny came up so that Eddie and I could go see a movie. We saw Secratariat and enjoyed it. I could've slept through the whole thing, though. I just like being out of the house and not responsible for a few hours! We had supper that night at a local restaurant and it was DELICIOUS. I think James and Eddie gave me my Pandora bracelet. I can't remember if it was then or for our anniversary. (Things run together in my brain these days!) I turned 27.

15. Did you travel anywhere this year?

In the spring we went to the Palm Coast for a long weekend. In June we traveled to South Carolina to vacation at Lake Keowee with the Smith side of the family. In September we went back to Florida with our Dinner Club friends. Other than that we've been back and forth to Atlanta and Tifton.

16. Did you suffer any illness or injury?

James had a fever and Roseola. He also had a runny nose at one point. Nothing major, though!

17. What national/world event stirred you the most?

I don't get very into the news. I know, I know. Probably the oil spill in the Gulf just because Bess lives in Florida.

18. What one thing would've made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

More sleep? Ha! James decided to sleep through the night just a month ago!

19. What merited celebration?

* The birthday party! Whew!
* Anna and Lance's engagement!

20. Tell us a valuable lesson you learned in 2010.

I'm not always going to do it right...and that's okay.

Love this! I love reading these from other people and it always makes me think, "oh, me too!" I forgot about BF when making my list. We made it 13 months, too and that is a great accomplishment! Hotdog, hotdog, hot-diggity-dog! Have a great New Year's!! :)
