Eddie and I decided last weekend that this weekend, and more specifically today, we wanted it to be just the three of us. We didn't turn down visitors, we just weren't available today and it was so nice.
I went with Mom and Mrs. Lynn to River Crossing in Macon last week (or the week before???) and bought a new pair of black flats. Apparently I bought them before I walked around all day because by the time I got home my feet no longer fit into them. I tried again a few days later and they felt like they were planning to give me blisters so I decided they needed to go back to the store. In addition, I'd eyed a pair of black boots at DSW and it was my mission today to buy my own Christmas gift.
We headed out around 11:30 and ate lunch at Wild Wing Cafe'. The little man was the perfect angel again and enjoyed looking around, listening to the rowdy boys yell at the Georgia Tech game on the big screen, and napping.
We hit DSW after lunch (the boots weren't there! argh!) and then Dick's Sporting Goods before feeding James in the back of Eddie's truck and going on our merry little way.
Eddie decided he wanted to stop by Bass Pro while we were up that way so we enjoyed browsing around in there for a while. James showed NO interest in the fish at all and wouldn't even open his eyes to look at them! (Sidenote, I am 100% aware of how silly it would be to expect an almost-one-month-old to look at fish. HOWEVER, there was a couple there trying to get their infant who might've been three months old to look at the fish. They were disappointed that he wasn't interested. Hmm...)
After Bass Pro we needed to go to Sam's for a few things (that turned into a LOT of things). We hadn't planned on staying long so when James woke up and turned into Captain Grumpypants, I wondered what was up. He's typically fantastic when we're not at the house! I finally asked Eddie what time it was and poor little boy was trying to tell me it was time to eat!!! Eddie and I bought what we had in our cart (since it was full and would've taken another cart to get what we needed), took it outside, and Eddie went back in to get a few more things while I fed James (again in the back of the truck).
I had one more errand before we left Macon and that was to run in Cracker Barrel and try to find a smaller outfit to exchange for the one my aunt gave James last weekend. Unfortunately, Cracker Barrel doesn't believe in children that are younger than six months old so we won't be exchanging it for another outfit. I'll have to go back and look for something else to replace it. Oh well...it was SO cute, though!
After a run through Chick-fil-A (mmm...peppermint chocolate chip milkshake) we headed back home WAY past the time we thought we'd be back!
We thoroughly enjoyed our family day out and I hope that there are many, many more of those to come! It was so much fun to get to spend some time with Eddie. I feel like we haven't seen each other in a while even though I see him every day! We've just been busy, exhausted, robot-people the past few weeks. Thank goodness for times like today!
In other news, I ordered a Miracle Blanket for James last week after my post on how he sleeps in his swing. I didn't think that the swaddle was going to work but Hallelujah!!! it totally does! Apparently the swaddle blankets I'd been trying didn't keep him tied down like he needs! He took a nap in his Pack-N-Play on Friday afternoon for over three hours. I finally had to go in and wake him up to eat. Then last night he slept ALL night in the Pack-N-Play and he went back down tonight at 7:30. (I can't believe he's not awake after all of his sleeping today!) I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's not just a fluke, but it appears that the Miracle Blanket is indeed miraculous! Woohoo!!! Thank you MckMama!!!
