Pinching Your Pennies

I've struggled lately with what to blog about. Is there anything exciting going on? Do I have anything worthwhile to talk about? The answer is always "yes," of course, but I've opened Blogger a few times this week and just stared at the computer. Those women who blog for a living (how cool would that be??!?) must have a lot more going on than I do...

We re-visited Perry First United Methodist this past weekend. It's my favorite so far and it's probably second place for Eddie. Last time he said he couldn't follow the preacher's message, and I'll admit that she was a little all over the place, but she definitely pulled it together this past Sunday. One of the things I like about her is that there's a trend - she preaches about current events in society. For instance, last Sunday she discussed the differences between Nadia Suelman (Octomom) and Chelsey "Sully" Sullenberger (Hudson River Hero) and she compared both to a passage in Jeremiah. I need a message like that. Not that I can relate to either of those events, but that I am able relate the Bible to anything happening now. I guess I'm like my students in that way - show me how this relates to me now.

On a separate note all together, I have to admit that I've become a little obsessed with couponing. I know, it's strange. However, Eddie has always been amazed at my abilities to spend money (I could get a gold medal for it!) and while he's never said anything, I know he's sweating bullets just watching me. So a few months ago I started picking up the Sunday Macon Telegraph only for the coupons. Eddie finally bought me a subscription to it because that was a heckofalot cheaper each week. So every Sunday after church I sit down with my scissors, my coupon holder, the newspaper, and Publix's sale papers and I go to work. I actually haven't made much progress yet but I've been told that once I have a large stash of coupons I'll be able to get much better deals, etc. Publix, CVS, and Walgreens are really the only places I care about having coupons for, although I did print some off the internet for Target the other day. I've actually saved a good bit of money couponing. I probably should start keeping track of how much I've saved. It's a fun hobby and Eddie definitely loves that I'm into it!

Last for today...I lifted weights last night for the first time since before the wedding. Ouuuuccchhh is all that I'm able to say. We've been walking and/or riding bikes a good bit, but no weight lifting and I'm pretty sore up top this morning. Guess that means I need to keep doing it! No pain, no gain, right??? Ha!

Hope you all have a great weekend! We're going to the rodeo tonight (to work) and Saturday night (with Cal and MD!!!). I'm sure I'll have plenty of pictures to share!
