So I found out a few hours ago that Houston County High School has a crowd problem...and a major one at that. I am one of almost 20 teachers to be floating next year. I'm floating ALL day. Yikes. I'm going to be the bag lady. Or the cart lady. Hopefully I'll be the organized lady.
When I found out (via email from the most HELPFUL person in all of HCHS - she's been SO sweet!) I immediately sent an alert out to my college friends and googled advice on floating teachers. Here's what I found out I need to do:
* Keep a crate with hanging file folders in it labeled:
- attendance
- seating charts
- passes
- daily tasks
- "Inbox"
- "Outbox" - 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th
- Lessons, etc.
* Keep a toolbox with all "necessities"
* STAY ORGANIZED!!!
I'm trying to stay positive about it...I don't have to decorate a classroom or worry about a "Standards Based Classroom." However, my lessons still have to be Standards Based without having a lot of options open. Hopefully it won't be miles from room to room...maybe I should invest in a good pedometer and count the floating as Weight Watchers Activity Points??? :)
Wedding planning is in HIGH gear! We worked ALL day on invitations, a program, registering (again! - People have been so generous that we ran out of gifts at Traditions!), ordered sparklers, etc. Busy, busy! Tomorrow is stuffing envelopes and sending invitations out. The time is flying by!
I went to the gym with Stacey tonight and she kicked my fanny. I've been working out on my own for a long time but she really kicks it up into high gear. I know I'll be sore tomorrow but I can't wait to get into my wedding dress after my hard work! That's good motivation!
47 days left!
