Goodnight, Ark by Laura Sassi, Illustrated by Jane Chapman

James and Will received a sweet little book in the mail recently - Goodnight, Ark. We are so pleased to have this copy given to us by BookLook Bloggers for review. All opinions are our own.

This sweet little book is a rhyming children's story about Noah and the animals on the Ark. The storm begins and the animals are afraid and all join Noah in his bed. Noah has to work to calm all of the animals down and get them to sleep. I love that the animals are not animals that you'd normally think of - boars, quail, and skunks are some of the animals mentioned. The illustrations in the book absolutely make it. They are GORGEOUS. The entire book reminds me a lot of The Mitten by Jan Brett and another book that we have called Ten in the Bed. It's sing-song-y and sweet.

The boys and I loved this book! They thought it was FUNNY. They loved the rhyming words and tried to complete the thoughts with a rhyming word before I turned the pages. They loved the illustrations and we had a great time pointing out each animal in the pictures. They requested we re-read it as soon as it was over and have asked to read it plenty of times since then.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the publisher through the BookLook Bloggers <http://booklookbloggers.com> book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
