I've totally fallen off the reading wagon again! I hit a wall right before Christmas and have just started back! I need to make time every night before bed to read, but sometimes it's so much easier to just watch television! Yuck! Bess made a comment last night on Facebook about
Before Christmas I read a book called Blue Christmas by Mary Kay Andrews. I don't think I did a post on it (I couldn't find one anyway) so if I did, I apologize! Mary Kay Andrews is, by far, one of my favorite authors of a "no-thinking-required" book. And let's be honest - we all need those books every once in a while! I highly recommend her if you haven't read any of her books before. I love it because she's from Atlanta so all of her books take place in or near Georgia. Her characters are southern women who have typical southern names (Eloise or "Weezy" is the character in Blue Christmas). In this book, Weezy is trying to enjoy what is her favorite time of the year. However, she has several hurdles to overcome. One, her boyfriend is not enjoying the season because of previous horrible Christmases. He doesn't even want to celebrate and he spends all of his time working. Two, she has new competition in the antiques business in the form of two hysterical gay men. And three, strange things keep happening involving a homeless woman. Mary Kay Andrews doesn't disappoint with this one! (If you haven't read her other books, start with Savannah Blues and Savannah Breeze.)
I'm currently working on The Help, which I think everyone in the world is reading right now. Then I'm going to move on to Same Kind of Different As Me, which Angie Smith is doing for her new book club (Bloom). I also have The Blind Side stored up and ready to be read! What are you reading? What would you recommend?
