Ghostbusters Movie Night

My littlest love got caught up in the Ghostbuster excitement this summer and BEGGED to see the movie. I haven't seen the new one, but I cannot imagine there is anything in it that a four-and-a-half-year-old needs to witness so I said no. I also said no to the original. I hadn't ever seen it in its entirety but I assumed it was full of adult humor that he didn't need to see. Finally, after asking some friends about it, I relented on the original version. While there is a good bit of implied adult humor in the movie, everything was over Will's head so I felt ok about it. There is also a good bit of language in it, but so far he hasn't caught any of it and he has watched it several times. (My boys have seen The Sandlot - that's probably the worst that we'd seen - and because the KIDS are using it, Will thought he could.) So far, the language in Ghostbusters has gone right over his head. So far.

Anyway, one week when we had a home football game looming over us, I asked Will if he was going to the game on Friday night. He answered that all he really wanted to do was stay home with me and watch Halloween movies. Well, I can get behind that!

We snuggled up on the sofa with some popcorn and watched Ghostbusters first. After finishing that movie, we had some chili and then snuggled some more and watched Casper (the Christina Ricci version). It was a great way to kick off Halloween with my littlest, Halloween-loving baby.

{He basically made me sit beside him and scratch his back or rub his head through two movies.}

Movie nights are just my favorite and we will have many more before the season is over. I have a whole stack of Halloween movies to get through with my buddies and a few that I'm going to watch on my own.

I wound up finding Will the Ghostbusters cartoon series on Amazon for cheap. He has LOVED them. Just a heads-up for those of you who want to add in some Halloween fun (that's child friendly!).

We ain't afraid of no ghosts!
