We had a fun weekend and stuck close to the house. Two words: potty training. It is in full force around here. And the best part is? He's DOING it! I haven't changed a "dirty" diaper in at least two, maybe three weeks. {He did have an accident last night after I'd written this. He was excited that Eddie had just walked in and he already had a nighttime diaper on for bed. He realized he'd had an accident and was able to stop and RUN! Ha!} We have been praising him for that. He doesn't often ask to tee-tee in the potty unless he's in big boy undies so I knew the second school was out that we needed to ban the diapers. We haven't completely cut them out, but we are very close! James is proud and we are proud!
Friday we went back to swimming lessons for the third time. I'll do a whole post on it another time but he's getting it! We're proud of him yet again!
After swimming lessons we came home and marked two things off of our summer goals list! Sprinklers and making cookies! I think we chose the coldest day in May to run through the sprinklers. It didn't last long. The good news, though, is that we've run through them twice since Friday.
After lunch and naptime James and I made cookies using a recipe from Pinterest. It was so, so simple. In my mixing bowl we put a box of cake mix (your choice), a block of cream cheese, a stick of butter (healthy, no?), and an egg. Mix completely. Then you take spoonfuls out and roll it in powdered sugar and put it on a baking sheet. I baked ours for about 12-15 minutes on 350*. They're good and cakey. I would suggest adding a bag of chocolate chips (Eddie says white chocolate chips) but we have a hard time finding chocolate that's made in a tree nut free facility without ordering. (For those with allergies, I haven't come across a Betty Crocker cake mix that has a warning! Yea, Betty!)
Friday night we had Wendy's for dinner. Mmm, healthy again! And watched "Alligators" before heading off for bed.
Saturday we spent the day at home in and out of undies. :) We took a great walk around the neighborhood mid-morning. James is LOVING the Bob. He asks for "stroller walks" all the time. Our neighborhood's yardsale was going on and while we went out a little late, we did stop by our friends', Matt and Meredith's, house to adopt some new-old toys. James loaded up on pretend food and he's been cooking up a storm ever since. He is BIG on "cooking," "grilling," and "making picnics" right now.
James helped Eddie work in the yard Saturday afternoon and they ran through the sprinklers, too.
Sunday we went to church and Sunday School and then came home for a snack and a nap. Poppy and Cacky came for the day. It had been a while since we'd seen Poppy! They're taking a BIG trip in June so we won't get to see them quite as often soon. We went to Olive Garden for lunch and James was SO well-behaved. We all told him how impressed we were with his behavior. We reverted back to a high chair at the table while we were out instead of a booster and I think it made a big, big difference. I didn't mention anything about the switch to him and he might've noticed but he didn't make a big deal out of it. He was so good!
My boys will snuggle with ANYTHING. They LOVE to sleep with something smushed up in their faces. James' favorite "lovey" is anything that has minky fabric on it. So far, Will doesn't care what it is. {He doesn't sleep with anything. Don't anonymous comment on me! :)}
