Haircuts, Hunting, and Happy Mother's Day!

Nowhere to go, not much to do was the theme of this weekend. And it was glorious! We're pretty busy during the week and now that we're almost to summer, things are in FULL FORCE around here. This past weekend was a bit of a reprieve from all of that. I didn't do much around the house and it was just glorious. :)

Friday evening when Eddie got home from work he'd planned to get some yard work done and I would order a pizza while he was doing that. But I called him right at 5 o'clock because I was miserable feeling, Will would.not.stop.crying (completely unusual), and James was up to his usual antics. Needless to say, he played with the bigger boy while the little boy and I laid on my bed. Thankfully, I recovered and we enjoyed pizza and alligators (Swamp People) later that evening.

On Saturday James and I had haircuts at noon (or so I thought). We were, of course, running ten minutes late so my stomach was in knots the whole way there. Turns out, we were 20 minutes early but it's just as well that I thought that we were late or it would've been 12:40 before we'd arrived. That's just how I work. :)

On the way to get our haircut James was playing with a camouflage flashlight that Eddie had in his truck. I asked James if he liked the camo and he said, "No." Then he asked if I liked it. I had to laugh. I told him that camouflage is what people wear when they go hunting so that they can hide in the woods. "You know. Like when those men on the alligator show go alligator hunting." (They don't wear camo, but it's the only hunting show he's seen.) He said, "Ohhhh. I want to go hunting wiff Daddy." When I asked him what kind of hunting he would do, he said, "Eastah egg hunting!" Well, there you go! Next year James and Eddie will don their camo for some "Eastah egg hunting!"

I spent the afternoon at the hair place (I always forget how long it takes...and I also forgot to eat before I left!) and then headed home to hang out with my guys. We spent the afternoon watching The Fox and the Hound while Eddie worked in the yard. Nothing too exciting for us! (I just texted Eddie to find out what we did...it was THAT exciting!)

Sunday we slept in...Eddie and James made it until 8 am! Unusual for my early bird! (Today he made it until 8:30! Maybe his body is on summertime!) We didn't intend to skip church, but we did. I slept until 9:30. Woohoo! Haven't slept that late in months and months! We got up and headed out for lunch in an effort to beat the church crowd and James fell asleep on the way. There was NO WAY I was going out with him after having to wake him up so we decided to go to Target instead where we could make a quick getaway if he was a grump. His daddy let him WALK around Target. What a treat! We picked up lunch (just for me!) from Panera and headed home so that James could nap.

The boys gave me sweet gifts! Eddie bought me a Pandora bracelet a few years ago and the boys added their initials to it and Eddie got me a charm from him, too. I love that it's something they can add to every year. :)

Sunday afternoon was all about the naps. It was SUPER low-key around here. Until James woke up from a nap and we were out of milk. That, my friends, is a disaster in our house. I sent the big boys off with a list and when they returned we had breakfast-for-supper. Eddie is not a huge fan, but James and I love it and it's quick and easy for a Sunday night. I think it might be our go-to!

I thoroughly enjoyed my low-key Mother's Day. I can't believe this is the 4th Mother's Day I've celebrated. The first I was pregnant with James (but his sweet Daddy still got me a card and a gift!), the next two I had just one boy, and this year I have two sweet little guys! I am so blessed to be their mama.

The icing on the cake was getting the jumpy down from the attic and seeing Will enjoy it. James LOVED his jumpy. That's an understatement. It was his all-time favorite toy...I'm not sure anything (except maybe the iPad) has taken its place yet! He jumped from 2 months until 18 months when he could flip himself out of it. (At two months he just sat up and looked around...and that's exactly what Will is doing with it.)

Will was three months old yesterday. It keeps hitting me at random moments how quickly it's flying by. I have to remind myself to stop and savor and remember. :) A friend whose daughter is graduating this year said exactly that to me in an email today. "Just wait. I know there are days you feel overwhelmed, but they really do pass by too quickly. She is a senior!" Here's to enjoying every single moment of being a mama.

Please don't forget to look at the online Thirty-One party that I'm participating in to help benefit my friend Melissa's adoption. I would be honored if you'd just give it a quick browse. If there's an upcoming birthday or Christmas gift you need, I would love it if you'd order through this party. 100% of the earnings go to benefit their adoption. Click HERE for more details.
