Whew! We have been busy little bees at our house for the past week. Busy, busy! Grandmama and Granddaddy (the Freshes) came for a visit last Thursday. I have pictures and a blog to go along with that that I still have not put up.
(And may we just pause for a second to talk about pluralizing our last name, please? One Fresh becomes two Freshes - and too difficult! I tried to figure out a cute way to monogram our Christmas tree skirt two years ago but I gave up and put "The Fresh Family." Is Freshes correct? Because Freshs wouldn't be, right?)
Moving right along...
Friday night James and I went to Eddie's office and then we all went to Red Lobster for supper. Since I'm in the consignment-shopping mood, what with my Ebaying and all, we decided to do a little looking after supper in some local shops. Nothing was found, unfortunately.
Saturday I had to get up and go to our church to help with VBS decorating. I actually wound up not being gone long at all. After I got back and we had lunch we ran a few errands and Eddie mowed the grass. We grilled pork chops for supper and a little boy discovered his love of the baked potato. It was all very excited. And dirty. Do you know how hard it is to clean up baked potato? (I had a science teacher in high school who called them baking potatoes. Anyone else? Am I weird for saying "baked"?)
Sunday after church Cacky and Poppy came up and Eddie and I went out and had a meal without handing out Cheerios. We had lunch at a local restaurant that is famous for its fried chicken. It was great. We each had fried chicken, fried okra, mashed potatoes, and creamed corn and then had desserts. Yum, yum! Afterwards, we ran to Target (by ourselves!) and then saw the movie Grown Ups. It was cute and we enjoyed our child-free hours! Thanks, Cacky and Poppy. Once we save our pennies for more $7 matinee movie tickets we'll call you again!
Today is our *gasp* SECOND wedding anniversary. It's been exciting so far! Eddie went to work and James and I went to VBS at the church.
Speaking of VBS, it's not part of our "weekend update" but I thought I might brag on my child a little on here (and hope it doesn't bite me in the butt tomorrow!). I have loved our church nursery. They have the same four (or so) girls in there each week, they've always known James by name, they love on him, and he never cries. Today I was a little concerned we might not make it because, as you all know, the boy likes to eat. I fed him at 7:45 before we left this morning and took two containers of babyfood with us so that Amanda could feed him. I was hoping I wouldn't have to be called out of my group. She was excellent with him today! I checked on him twice and the first time he was ASLEEP in a bouncy seat (!!!) and the second time he was eating some babyfood. She said he was fine all morning! When I picked him up he was sitting on Miss Amanda's lap with a little girl (named Mary Charles - I've seen TWO little Mary Charles-es lately!) eating puffs. He waved goodbye, we got in the car, and I was able to run through Zaxby's to get my own lunch on the way home. THEN when we got home he let me eat my lunch while he watched Mickey Mouse and then wanted to be fed. He was not the grumpy, starving boy I pictured picking up! I hope the rest of the week goes smoothly. I'll let you know!

Happy anniversary~! And for the record, I always say 'baked potato' and not baking potato so you aren't alone!
Happppy Anniversary! I know I'm late but we moved and no internet! And I also say baked potato!
Oh, we always had the "s" vs. "es" issue, too.
But, I think since ours was a common noun, it looked normal to say Beaches, so that's what we did.
The never-ending curse of the english teacher.
