James at Five Months...

I had such good intentions of posting this early and making sure I got a cute picture with his little sign and all...but things get in the way, don't they? Oh well...He's being rocked to sleep as we speak and I'm not about to interrupt so that I can get a cute picture. (It wouldn't be cute anyway!)

So...here we go.

At five months, James:

* Weighs 18.2 pounds. This is up just 0.7 pounds from last month! We're working our weight "issues" out! Ha! (And for the record, I just saw that Mrs. Pendy's 18-MONTH OLD granddaughter is just now 20 pounds. I think it would be hilarious to see them side by side!)

* He's 26 inches. The same as last month. I'm almost 100% sure he grew since his doctor's appointment, so either they measured wrong or my dryer is shrinking things.

* Is on a MUCH better schedule this month. Usually Eddie gets home around 6 and we go for a walk or play before we eat supper around 6:45. Eddie feeds James around 7 while I clean up the kitchen. He has a bath between 7:15 and 7:30. We do our jammie-time, books, snuggles around 8. Eddie rocks him until he falls asleep. He is almost always in the bed and asleep by 9! (I’ll regret saying this, I know…)

* He's still wearing a size 3 diaper.

* He's eating every 3 hours during the day. Apparently we’re NOT going through a growth-spurt right now, though, because if he’s particularly entertained, he can go much longer. He makes a liar out of me in front of the grandparents all the time.

* He likes his pacifier more now than he has in the past. He takes it more often during the day now.

* He doesn't keep his hands out of his mouth. If his hands aren't in there he's either chewing his wubbie or a burp cloth or the seat of the Jumperoo.

* He's not very concerned about which finger is in his mouth, as long as he has one or all of them in his mouth. I have to keep lotion on his hands because he's sucked them raw!

* HE SLEEPS IN HIS CRIB ALL NIGHT LONG!!! (Again, I know I’ll regret saying this…)

* He's pretty happy during the day but is the most happy first thing in the morning. Sometimes it might've been close to 4 hours since his last meal but he has to talk to me before he eats. If I try to get him to eat instead of talk it's pointless. I just have to listen and talk back until he realizes he's hungry.

* We’re on a schedule as far as wake-time and nap-time. He gets up between 8 and 9, takes a nap around 10, eats around 11:30, naps around 1, eats around 2:30, and naps again around 4.

* Still loves his carseat. He's more alert in the car these days, especially on short trips. He doesn't fall asleep immediately anymore unless it's truly naptime.* Still loves to be on the go! He acts so much better in public than at home. I think he just likes looking at new things.
* Still loves a bath.

* He can bear weight on his legs for a few minutes. If he gets tired he squats down.

* His head is totally stable unless he’s just gotten up from a nap and is a little groggy.
* Likes tummy-time more now because we do it at bedtime when Eddie's reading to him. The Boy LOVES to read!

* He can sit up on his own for a few seconds at a time!

* He still jabbers ALL the time. He's not really grunty anymore. He's laughing more often and has gotten very ticklish.

* He's gotten better about putting his pacifier in his mouth but still needs to do some work on that trick!

* He reaches for and grabs things that are put in front of him.

* He can roll from his back to his tummy. We cannot keep him from doing it anymore. If he’s laid on his back, he immediately flips over. He’s not doing this in his crib yet. He’s rolled from his stomach to his back twice but isn’t all that interested in that trick.

* He still loves to pull off his socks! I’m so glad that it was warm enough today to put on a shorts-onesie and NO socks!

* He’s finding his voice. He squeals ALL the time. So cute!

* He’s cutting a tooth! For real this time! I can see one (his bottom left) poking through! I can sort of see the other one as well but it hasn’t made its debut yet.

* He’s getting mobile. He rolls and scoots everywhere. I pick things up out of his path all the time!

* He's so much fun right now!

OOOO WEEE! Those are so adorable thighs! I'm going to need a raincheck on our date since his parents cancelled on me!

Happy birthday Eddie!
