Show Us Your Life...What I Collect

If you know me "in real life" or if you've been reading my blog for any length of time, it will come as no shock to you that I'm a lover of books. Something I haven't mentioned is that I'm also a collector of books. My stepmom, Laura, began collecting antique books many, many years ago. When I was little, I loved to look at her collection of Nancy Drew and Cherry Ames books. I have admired them for YEARS! She has an extensive collection and I love the look that it gives her house. I mentioned, at some point, wanting my own collection of books and she has not let me down! Each year at Christmas I get one or two antique books for my own collection.

***And yes, I know that those editions of Jane Eyre and The Iliad, as well as one of the installments of the Twilight series are not antiques.***

I currently own:

*First edition Gone With the Wind

* Several John C. Winston Company children's books: Robinson Crusoe (1925), The Swiss Family Robinson (1929), Tales from Shakespeare (1924), The Story of a Bad Boy (1927), Hans Brinker or The Silver Skates (1925), Favorite Fairy Tales (1917), Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes (1917), The Three Musketeers (1931), Little Men (1928), and Heidi (1924).

*The two odd-men-out are The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (Harper and Brothers - 1923) and Treasure Island (Rand McNally & Company - 1916).

I have thoroughly enjoyed my antique books collection and I look forward to adding to it in the years to come!
