Disney 2015: Day Two, Continued - Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party

After taking a two hour rest at our hotel, we headed back to Magic Kingdom for a little more fun at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party! This is a separate ticketed event and I was hoping that they'd have one on the night that we arrived, but no such luck. We slapped it onto another day in the parks and had just as much fun! I was happy that we did it, but I would skip it for the next few years. It was a GREAT way to see characters that aren't normally out and celebrate the season, but be aware that it isn't as exclusive as they would lead you to believe...More on that later.

The boys went as Copper and Tod from The Fox and the Hound. We decided on these costumes WEEKS ago, but when it came down to it, Will wouldn't wear his. He only wore the ears and nose for these pictures. Stinker.

Our first stop of the evening was at Pecos Bill's for supper. It was in Frontierland where we wanted to watch the parade. Will fell asleep on the way there so we picked up supper for four of us and ate on their patio before heading across the street for the parade. If you're familiar with MK we watched the parade directly across from the patio there in front of Splash Mountain. We thought it was a great spot and we didn't feel crowded at ALL. We also REALLY enjoyed Pecos Bill's. I'll review it later.

While Will was asleep, Mom held the parade-viewing spot for us and we ran around the corner to Adventureland to ride Pirates of the Caribbean one time. I panicked the whole time that we wouldn't be able to get BACK and didn't really enjoy the ride, but James LOVED it, which I considered a win because it scared him last time.

We woke Will up before the parade which caused MAJOR sensory overload. He watched with wide eyes and hid a few times. The parade was GREAT! It was a fun Halloween parade!

After the parade we wandered back over to Adventureland, which was fairly empty, and hopped on Aladdin's Magic Carpets. We actually rode twice in a row with no wait at all.

After that we let the boys Trick or Treat at Jungle Cruise. I was sort of bummed that this ride wasn't open. We missed it this trip! I know that the boys Trick or Treated somewhere else, but I have no idea where. We didn't do much Trick or Treating, though...too much fun to be had.

Next we got in line to meet Aladdin and Abu. The cast member told us we would either see Aladdin and Abu OR Genie and Jasmine and we didn't care who we met because we'd never met either of them. Aladdin was SUPER talkative. Will loved Abu. The boys still haven't seen the movie (James got it for his birthday but we haven't watched it yet), but I think they'll like it. We were the last family to see Aladdin and Abu so we let the boys stay and watch the switch just to see Jasmine and the Genie. While they were waiting for that, I stopped at the Dole Whip stand and tried the dessert that EVERYONE raves about.

The Dole Whip stand is a story all by itself. I walked up and waited in line and when it was my turn I told the girl that I'd never had one and asked what the most popular is. (It's the Dole Whip Float, in case you're interested.) A Dole Whip is pineapple soft serve with pineapple juice on top of it. TOTAL adult snack - the boys weren't fans. I was wearing my birthday pin and when the girl came back to give me my total she said, "Happy Birthday, it's on me!" MAGIC. I've always heard about cast members' magical moments, but I hadn't ever been the RECIPIENT of one. I was a little taken aback!  So fun! The hilarious part of this story is that we each got a snack credit per night of our stay so we had a total of 20 snack credits for our trip and we could. not. get. rid. of. them. I wound up buying THIRTEEN snacks at the Starbucks in Magic Kingdom as we left because for one reason or another we kept getting free snacks! Hilarious problem to have!

Okay, continuing on with MNSSHP!

After we met Aladdin and Abu we headed over to get in line for Tarzan, Terk, and Jane. Tarzan is Will's FAVORITE Disney movie (and one of my favorites, too!) We waited just a few minutes and Terk signed autographs while Tarzan and Jane took a break and then they all three took pictures. It worked out great because just as we were finishing up with them the fireworks started and we watched from the Swiss Family Robinson house. Shockingly, Will didn't love the meet and greet with Tarzan. He said he didn't like him touching him. ??? I thought he would LOVE it. Oh well.

A little #throwbackthursday for you. :) I almost had the spot where we took it correct. Close enough! The cell phone picture is TERRIBLE, but I had to snap it anyway...

One of the reasons I was SO excited about MNSSHP was that they are resurrecting the Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus for the villain show this year. I. was. pumped. I can remember watching Hocus Pocus probably the year that it came out because I was in about the 3rd grade. I watch it at least once every single year and even bought my own copy a few years ago so that I could watch it when I wanted, not just when it is on TV. SO. I was PUMPED about it. After the parade earlier in the night I mentioned going to the Hocus Pocus Spelltacular next and James wasn't thrilled about anymore shows. He wanted RIDES and he wanted CHARACTERS. So I did what most mamas would and I sucked it up but I announced that if we were still in the park at 10:40 I wanted to see that show. Eddie said there was NO CHANCE we would still be there. Well. We were. Lol!!! So after Tarzan and the Swiss Family Treehouse we walked over to the main stage at Cinderella's Castle and we watched the Sanderson Sisters. It was so fun! My favorite was when they sang "I Put a Spell on You," of course, but the whole thing was good. James conked out in the stroller during the first part of it and missed the whole thing, but the rest of us watched and enjoyed it. There are a TON of videos of the full show on YouTube if you're interested. It's really cute.

After that was over we decided it was time to head out. We collected our fancy Dove chocolates at the exit. We hopped on the Monorail and rode one stop to the Contemporary where we rested our weary bodies until our next stop - Hollywood Studios.

More later! ;)
