Disney 2015: Day One - Travel

Wednesday, October 21st

After planning and planning and PLANNING since probably February, the day was FINALLY here. We got off to a later-than-we-planned start and didn't leave our house until around 3pm. It's only a 4 hour drive, but I was still planning on being there by about 5 so this threw me off a little bit.

The ride down was fairly uneventful. The boys were AWESOME and we didn't stop at ALL. We had a few little low-blood-sugar meltdowns, but nothing that a bag of Cheetos couldn't fix. We also saw two rainbows on the way down - and one  of the arches was complete AND it was a double rainbow. This was my first trip EVER without Sonny so it was a little sign that he was with us. Will had cried and cried earlier in the morning about Poppy not going with us (he doesn't remember Poppy, but we talk about him all the time and he knew this was the first time we'd been without him) so it was a sweet little sign.

You can barely see the left side of the rainbow near Eddie's face and the right side all the way on the other side of the picture. This isn't a great picture, but it was the best I could do in the car.

HANGRY to Happy!

As soon as we arrived at the Contemporary where we were staying we found the bathrooms and checked in. They gave three of us a birthday pin, Will got a 1st Visit pin (we fibbed a little but he doesn't remember the last time he went), and Eddie got an "I'm Celebrating!" pin. We found our room and dropped off our stuff and then headed upstairs at the Contemporary to eat at the quick service restaurant there - Contempo Cafe'. We were so underwhelmed by the quick service on this trip. I'll do a whole dining plan post later, but I would never go out of my way to eat here. It WAS neat to eat and watch the monorail pull through. James and Will were interested in that for sure!

Unfortunately, the ages that the boys are make for ridiculous pictures. Will always wants to make a face and James either poses or stands awkwardly. These will be the photos that they look at and say, "WHY would you let me act like that?" No amount of fussing about it makes it any different.

Their precious shirts say "Disney Bound" and I bought them from HKL Designs on Facebook. She was great and they were here very quickly!

After we ate we caught the very end of the movie on the lawn that they were showing. It would've been so fun to watch the whole thing, but we missed most of it.

We walked out on the dock and tried to see the fireworks from the Magic Kingdom and the Water Electrical Parade but we were a little early for it. Will got in trouble for opening a gate on the dock (the cast member asked him not to). Will is notorious for doing what he wants to do but shutting down when someone fusses at him so he was DONE after that. He wanted nothing more than to get off the dock and go to our room. We took advantage of that and headed to bed since we had an early morning.
