Summer Shirts

I can remember making t-shirts in the summer when I was little. Remember those iron-on patterns that you'd trace and fill in with PUFF PAINT? I can also remember doing tie dye at VBS. Fun times. SO. When we made our list of things to do this summer, tie dye was on it. I'd also made a list of 4th of July crafts to do with the boys and flag shirts were on that list. We haven't gotten many of the 4th of July crafts accomplished, but we finished our flag shirts JUST in time for the fireworks tonight. {Our town is doing them a day early. We'll likely watch them again tomorrow night, too!}

Tie dye was first. Talk about a MESSY project. I bought a pack from WalMart but then I found a kit in the $1 section at Target, too. {It was actually $3.} I got two of those kits. We had orange, yellow, turquoise, and green. Will chose orange and turquoise {ick.} and James chose turquoise, green, and yellow. For our first attempt, they turned out cute. Holy cow it is a PROJECT, though. Once a year is plenty for that stuff.

Last night we started our flag shirts. In the interest of full disclosure, I had a TERRIBLE mom moment while James and I did his. I'd told him exactly what to do before I painted anything. I pressed his hand down and pulled it up and then he pressed it down again. You can just barely see it. But I lost it. Ugh. I don't even know why. I apologized but I always feel bad when I react that way. The shirts turned out CUTE.

We have had a FUN summer so far. We have accomplished a good bit on our list of goals, we've had a lot of fun, and we've been BUSY. Summer 2014 has been awesome so far!
