A Bluebonnet Bride by Colleen Coble

I was so excited to be given a copy of Bluebonnet Bride by Colleen Coble. Book Look Bloggers sent me the book in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.

Bluebonnet Bride is set at the turn of the 20th century and follows Elli, a young woman who boards The Baltic as a mail-order bride in order to escape a former fiance who she believes is after her. She just hopes that the man she's supposed to marry, Nathan, and his adopted niece, Hannah, will be kind to her. Neither Elli nor Nathan has any hopes that the marriage will be more than just an arrangement between them. She needed to escape and he needs a mother for the niece he's adopted as his own daughter. She thinks that she's escaping her past, but as the story unfolds we find that trouble has followed her across the ocean.

I enjoyed reading this book! It was a story of two strangers who have to work together to protect their new marriage and the romance is sweet. I was upset to find out that it was a novella; I kept wishing for more information about the characters and the story could easily have gone on much longer. I also felt a little bit like some of the story was unrealistic. I think because it was so short questions weren't answered and details about certain things were a little hazy. Bluebonnet Bride is part of a series and I could definitely see myself reading more of these. The characters were delightful! Overall, though, I thought it was a good read!
