31 Days of Halloween: Day 18 - Pumpkin Patch Field Trip!

With all the birthday party business of last week I totally fell off the 31 Days bandwagon BUT it's Halloween week so hopefully I can play a little bit of catch-up!

Last Wednesday I went with James' class to a local pumpkin patch. It was SO much fun. James and I rode with one of my best friends, her little boy, and another girl whose parents didn't go. The five of us had the BEST time. Aside from almost losing James once (he decided to go with another class on a hay ride before it was time and I had to run across the pumpkin patch to find him), it was a fun and successful trip! I'd like to go back!

First up - pick a pumpkin! James set his sights on the pumpkin on the highest hay bale.

They returned to the picnic area with their pumpkins and were asked to draw faces on them. James did just that - he drew a circle with two eyes and a mouth inside it. And then he drew another. James and Will. Will is the mad face. I need to take a picture to share it because it's so funny!

Next the kids did duck races by pumping water into these pvc pipes. It was a good idea in theory but 3 and 4 year olds weren't strong enough to pump the water fast enough and the ducks just got stuck. They did enjoy pumping the water, though!

We walked up to the petting zoo next and James immediately went straight for the steer roping station. We didn't stay here long, but it looked like a lot of fun!

The petting zoo had goats, a miniature donkey, and rabbits.

We took a long hayride out to the cotton field to pick cotton. James said the hayride was his favorite part because he doesn't like to walk. (What in the world?)

After our hayride we bounced in the bounce house, played on the swingset, and ate ice cream. James and I walked into the store and bought a big pumpkin for carving this week and a jar of pumpkin butter and a jar of apple butter. Yum!

Before we knew it it was 11:30 and time to head back to school! I can't wait to go back to the pumpkin patch again!
