Books...

To say that I need to step up the reading is an understatement. We've just been busy. And I've been tired. And I haven't been reading at night, but watching TV instead. Terrible.

So...the things that I HAVE read in June and July:

1. Numbers - I've been working my way through the Old Testament. Trudging along. It's been tough. I've read the New Testament several times. And Genesis many, many times. But somehow I always seem to get stuck. I'm pushing ahead, though! Deuteronomy next!

2. Cold Sassy Tree by Olive Ann Burns. I can't decide whether I liked this or hated it. I just mourned for the grandmother the entire length of the book. I felt so bad for her. I hate to give anything away if you haven't read it, but I just hated things for the grandmother. I LOVED the writing, the things that made me think of my grandparents, and the setting. If you're a Georgian and you haven't read this, put it on your list. You'll see your home one hundred years ago!

3. Bridget Jones' Diary by Helen Fielding. Loved it once again. She makes me laugh SO much. We were at the beach when I read this and I kept reading things outloud. And then Anna read it while we were there, too! A must-read if you haven't!

Y'all, that's basically all I have read this summer!

Up next:
* Continuing on with the Bible in a Year (I'm behind...).
* Alias Grace for my book club.
* Trudge on through the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
* Saving CeeCee Honeycutt by Beth Hoffman
* Lowcountry Summer by Dorothea Benton Frank
* Beach Music by Pat Conroy
* We're listening to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the car.
* I just bought Peter Pan to read with James at the suggestion of a friend. He's ready for longer stories so I hope he likes this one. I found one with really pretty illustrations.

What are you reading this summer?
