Baby Brother...27 Weeks

*** Our Weekend Update was also posted today. See below. ***

Well, Baby Brother has a name. George. Ha! Not really, but this is what James has recently named him. We almost never watch Curious George, but James LOVES him anyway. So when we've said, "What is Baby Brother's name?" he makes a monkey sound. The first few times, I was confused. And then I asked if he meant George and he grinned and nodded. So...that's James' name for Baby Brother. As for his REAL name, there still is not one, but we've narrowed the list down to four "probably" names. Maybe one of those will be *the one.* (It will not be Delaware, which is an actual Hasty family name that has been recommended to us. Nor will it be Champ, a REAL, LEGAL Fresh family name. Mercy sakes alive.)

I am not about to show you what I actually look like since I'm sweeping and mopping the house today, but here's a tummy picture. Baby Brother has GROWN.

Size of the Baby: I used a different website this week, just for a different look at Week 27. This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14.5 inches long with his legs extended. He’s sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing his eyes, and perhaps even sucking his fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby’s brain is very active now. While his lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning – with a lots of medical help – if he were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feelings to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. (Sidenote: James had them ALL THE TIME.) Each episode lasts a few moments, and they don’t bother him.

Total Weight Loss/Gain: +5 pounds – Here it comes! Yuck.

Maternity Clothes: I’m in them! I’m out of most everything else, save sweaters that are open in the front.

Gender: Another boy!

Movement: Yes! Lots and lots and lots of it. He enjoys sitting right on top of my bladder all.the.time. I feel like he’s a lot lower than James was. James was all in my ribs all the time!

Cravings: Still feeling really, really good food-wise. I am still really craving sugars. Eddie got part of the Halloween candy out of the house last week so that’s helped a lot. I LOVE Black Cherry Fresca right now. Oh my word, it is delicious. I still love Mexican food as much as I always have. (I hated it with James.)

Symptoms: Well, I finally started feeling pregnant. I’m waking up with leg cramps, I have to potty all the time, my back is sore and achy. I think I probably wouldn’t be feeling quite this pregnant this early if I wasn’t hauling a toddler around all the time. He’s walking a lot, but I still have to heave him into the car and up on high things. Whew!

Sleep: Still ok. I’m actually falling asleep and staying asleep all night long, usually. Hope I don’t regret saying that! Someone has decided that our bed is more fun to sleep in, though, and he keeps me awake more than pregnancy does.

What I Miss: Deli meat. And blue cheese. And yes, I know it’s okay to eat pasteurized blue cheese, but I just haven’t been able to bring myself to do it yet. (I also know that to miss blue cheese is WEIRD but my favorite restaurant salads have it on there.)

Best Moment This Week: Christmas card picture day!
